The Algowatch project was further highlighted at the Voices Festival in Zagreb through presentations by media information literacy (MIL) expert Divina Frau-Meigs in two key round table discussions.
During the “Artificial Intelligence, a Double-Edged Sword for Truth” roundtable, Frau-Meigs emphasized the necessity of AI competence-based resources, such as those developed in the Algowatch project, to build trust among citizens and empower them to navigate AI systems. She demonstrated how MIL serves as a crucial asset for informed citizenship and free will, requiring external verification and critical decision-making.
In a separate session titled “Roundtable discussion on media literacy and policymakers,” Frau-Meigs positioned the Algowatch project as a vital policy tool. She illustrated how it facilitates collaboration between practitioners and decision-makers, enabling effective teacher training, providing high-quality resources, and establishing a European transnational framework for dissemination and scaling up.
The Voices Festival, held from February 27th to March 1st, provided a platform for Algowatch to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing media literacy in the digital age.
