Over 100 school librarians at the national conference “Culture and Challenges of New Media” in Zagreb were presented with the Algowatch project’s activities, focusing on the critical role of algorithms and artificial intelligence (AI) in media content creation and consumption.
Researcher Igor Kanižaj from DKMK emphasized the project’s concepts, competencies, and activities, stressing the profound impact of algorithms and AI on online experiences. “They play a crucial role in shaping our online experiences, influencing our opinions and the information we consume,” Kanižaj stated.
The conference, which aimed to address the evolving landscape of new media, provided a platform for Algowatch to educate librarians on the project’s initiatives. DKMK, an official partner of the Croatian Education and Teacher Training Agency (AZOO), is responsible for media literacy education for educators, delivering content at more than 10 national conferences annually. The agency, which oversees educational development in Croatia, will continue to disseminate the Algowatch project through these conferences in 2025.
